PNW Brain Rehabilitation

PNW Brain Rehabilitation is a speech therapy private practice located in the Seattle area that specializes in providing cognitive, language, speech, and swallowing therapy services to adults with acquired brain injuries, including stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Services

Cognitive Treatment

Cognitive treatment focuses on restoring skills and compensating for deficits in the areas of attention, memory, problem solving, and executive skills.
This might be particularly helpful for individuals who want to return to work, school, or other social and community activities.

Language Treatment

Language treatment works on improving understanding, speaking, reading, and writing difficulties. People who suffer from a TBI or stroke may experience difficulty communicating or expressing themselves and will benefit from language therapy.

Speech Treatment

Speech therapy provides treatment that focuses primarily on articulation and improving overall speech intelligibility.

Swallowing Treatment

The goal of swallowing treatment is to support safe and efficient eating and drinking. Treatment focuses on strengthening exercises as well as strategies to improve safety and reduce aspiration risk.

Miranda Gendreau, M.S., CCC-SLP, CBIS

Miranda Gendreau is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Brain Injury Specialist. She earned her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2018 from the University of Central Arkansas. With extensive experience in both acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings, Miranda has spent the majority of her career working in hospitals, helping patients recover from complex neurological conditions.

In addition to running her private practice, Miranda serves as the speech-language pathologist at an intensive outpatient brain injury rehabilitation program that focuses on transitioning patients back into the workplace and the community.

Outside of work, Miranda enjoys traveling, hiking in the mountains, cuddling with her two Maine Coon cats, and exploring the Pacific Northwest (especially if it involves a ferry ride).

FAQs

  • At this time, we do not accept insurance. We only accept private pay. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company, upon request.

  • We offer both in-person and telehealth therapy to fit each patient’s individual needs. On a case-by-case basis we will see client in their home.

  • The frequency and duration of therapy is highly individualized and depends on a variety of factors, including: the individual’s ability to tolerate therapy sessions, stage in recovery, and frequency of other therapeutic activity, if any.

After the initial evaluation, the clinician, individual, and caregiver (if applicable) will meet to discuss the results of the evaluation as well as the recommended plan of care. This will include the frequency (i.e. how many sessions per week/month) and duration of therapy sessions (i.e. length of each session).

  • PNW Brain Rehabilitation believes therapy works best when everyone’s on the same page. That’s why we focus on working with both patients and their families to create plans that fit each person’s goals and lifestyle. Families can join sessions, help practice skills at home, and learn how to provide better support.
